Day 6 - The Gentle Art of Skiing Uphill

The weather was again excellent today. We headed over to the Funival as usual before 9 and got a few runs in on Bellevarde, namely the red Orange (or rather the top section and then cut across some off piste powder to the Marmottes lift) a couple of times, then headed out the other side of Bellevarde to do the green Grand Pre, which was so wide and fast, it was perfect for practising carve turns where you end up going uphill (and in the process making a smiley face track).

Most of the day was spent taking in the rest of Tignes. For some reason after the initial decent into Tignes down a steep red my legs started suffering from "lazy leg" syndrome, that is they didn't ache, just they didn't want to ski as hard as I wanted them to (or had been yesterday). We stopped for lunch in Val Claret, and I paid the princely sum of 10 euros for a cheeseburger, chips and can of fanta, funnily enough this was just back from the slopes, right next to the slopes was even more expensive. After lunch we headed up the top of the Grand Mott, which had some fantastic views, but was far too cold, with icy winds biting in. The run down was pretty good though, after the painful traverse in aforementioned conditions.

Around 3 we headed back over to Bellevarde and did a few more runs before heading back around 4:30. Tomorrow is ouur last days skiing, so hopefully the weather will still be good, we're planning to go up the Funival to Bellevarde, ski straight down into Val, take the Solaise Express up to Solaise/Madeleine and then take the chair over to the Montet.
